"Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."
- Michael Pollan: "In Defense of Food"
CSA is, foremost, a community; it is people joining to support a local farmer in producing food for their tables. CSA binds community members and farmers in relationships of mutual support based on an annual commitment to one another. This commitment helps ensure the survival of small farms, a local food supply, and of agricultural land.
Traditionally, members sign up for a share of vegetables and/or flowers in early spring and then receive a weekly bag of produce and/or bouquet. CSA assures the farmer a prepaid local market for his or her crops while providing community members access to the best and freshest local produce available. CSA offers one of the freshest, closest connections to your food after growing it yourself in your own back yard.
At Beausol Gardens we are committed to the highest quality and freshness of our products. We strive to grow healthy crops by extensive planning, nurturing growing techniques and by planting a large variety of vegetables. We take a holistic approach to care for the soil and crops and to create the proper environment for plants to thrive. However, it is important for members to realize that they are invested in a real family farm (we only sell what we grow), and there will be successes and failures. There will also be natural fluctuations in the amount and type of food every week.
Our 2010 main season features two sizes of shares - a full share for $600 and a half share for $300. Our flower share is $175. The season will begin around the first of May depending on crop availability and run to the end of September. Please refer to our sign up agreement for more information.
Our 2010 winter season details have not been set yet. The season will begin around mid October 2010 depending on the crops and will run about fourteen weeks, skipping the weeks of Thanksgiving and between Christmas and New Year's Day and finishing around the end of January 2011. Please refer to our sign up agreement for more information.
